Choose any ONE of the following and write a 400 word essay on it.
1. Your school was recently involved in a project at one of your neighbouring village schools to install computers after raising funds for it. You were asked to visit the school to see how the computers are being used and how it is helping the students and teachers there. On your return you have been invited to talk to a gathering of Grade 11 students, on what you found out. Write the text of your talk.
2. You recently watched a documentary film on the positive and negative effects of the Internet on young people. You feel strongly about this issue and decide to use it as the topic of an essay in one of your classes. Write your essay.
3. You are a member of your school editorial board and have been asked to report on a school event. You observed the event, you spoke to some of the people involved in organizing the event as well as those who participated in it. Write your news story.
4. You are asked to take part in a school debate on the motion: “Happiness can be bought if you have enough money.” Write your speech either agreeing or disagreeing with this motion.
5. You have recently watched an episode of your favourite TV serial which helped you forget your problems and gave you a better view of life. Write a diary entry about this episode that made you realize how fortunate you are. Discuss particular aspects of the episode that influenced you.
6. A crucial element of a book is often the characterization (the “people” in a book). In an essay, discuss how characterization is important in a book you have read.
